I will conquer thee...

Sick of cheap shoes that break quickly, I went and bought myself a brand new pair of Doc Marten shoes. I love them, they are such fantastic pieces of solid craftmanship, but...

... they sure do hurt like hell! At the moment I can only wear them with three pairs of socks (one very thick and wooly) and strategically placed plasters. But I will persevere. In a year or so's time, they will be the most dreamy comfortable things I own, I'm sure...

I went through a fairly devoted Doc Marten phase in my youth (we had all colours - cherry, blue - and heights too!) and I well remember that initial pain! But, once they soften they are SO comfortable and will last for years!

I'm sorry to be such a kill joy, but I have honestly tell you that those shoes ruined my feet when I was a teen. They look great but the leather never really breaks and they will keep hurting your feet until you'll end up with really hard skin and many blisters before that happen...in fact the feet will adapt to them not the opposite I'm afraid.

la casita, I was worried that that might be the case! I only had one pair of DMs when I was younger and they were fur-lined and very comfortable. This is a whole other kettle of fish...

I have never owned a pair of Doc Martens because I'm so afraid they will hurt. I have the worst feet when it comes to blisters.
Doc Martens look so good though and I stare with jealousy at people walking around in them like they are the perfect shoe.
*sigh*
