Lots of lovely new silhouettes coming right up, thanks again to this weekend's awesome car boot sale. Keep an eye out in the shop!

What you can see there in the background is the super-massive new trunk we picked up for a tenner, which after a good scrubbing down and a lick of paint will be our new coffee table. Trunktastic!

Super-chunky

Look at this bad-boy! A new favourite of mine. Available here.

As you can see, I've gone for a bit of a hair-change so as to look like a grown-up. I also thought it was high time that my poor abused hair and bathroom towels got a rest!

The weekend's plunder

Here are some of the bits that found their ways into my bag at the car boot sale this weekend (American guests - see comments in the post below for translation of 'car boot sale'!). As you can see I couldn't wait to start playing with them so several have been turned into necklaces already and will make their ways into the shop before long.

Tomorrow I am graduating, so have my fingers crossed for some cooler weather as sun + dress + gown + cap = awful sweaty photos. Should be fun, anyway!

This is my new business card. It makes me happy when I see it, and hopefully that'll work for other people too!

We've just been to an awesome car boot sale, and now we're off to the beach. It's the hottest day of the year so far, I'm told, and I'm head-to-toe factor 50 sticky. Have a lovely Sunday!

I've been meaning to dust these old lovelies off and attempt to use them for ages. The shutters fire on both and I think they'll work, they just need a bit of a clean. I've finally got round to buying some film, so I may at last get round to it!

And here is a picture of some knitting.
(Just liked the pretty colours together...)

Do you have anything you've been meaning to get round to trying for ages?

New in the shop and more coming up: limited edition and some one-off prints of illustrations and pages from my final major project book, below. All are professionally-printed, some on watercolour paper, some matt, and a couple will be available framed.

You can view more of the book here. Get 'em while they're hot!

Oh jar of pretty buttons, how I love thee. This was an instant collection in the jar from a charity shop, and I very nearly wet myself when I saw the label said £2.

What's new, pussycat?

Newsies, which are either in the shop now or coming right up. Also, more ships coming soon, I promise! And perhaps a few of these puppies, if you're good:

Just had to post these beautiful images of incredible abandoned Russian houses, beautifully preserved because they are hidden deep in the forests. Found here.

Collections

It's time to admit I have a problem. My name is Louise and I cannot resist a small, vintage frame purse, especially if there's a chain attached.... It's getting quite out of hand, so a few others (starting with the one below) will be appearing in the shop over the next few weeks. Hopefully someone shares my weakness!

These frames caught my eye outside a framing shop on the market square at my latest craft fair this weekend. Nothing gets me weak like a load of ornate old (especially golden) frames! You could have an instant collection with this lot by funkiefinds on etsy, and I would in a Norfolk minute if only they weren't so far away!

My very good friend Tom has made this record with two other friends of mine, and they've just released it this month. I've known the three of them since school, they're talented boys (one is somewhere in deepest Siberia or something lately, interesting fact for you there) and they recorded these songs in a studio that runs off solar power, which is nice!

It's absolutely fantastic, you can hear it here, buy it here or from Rough Trade. Tom has also set up a blog, because he'd dearly love to hear from you if you come across a copy. The sleeve was done by my friend Luke, and is a bit of a triumph, n'est pas?

Practical Knitting Illustrated, Margaret Murray and Jane Koster, 1940

My friend Lucy got me this for my birthday ages ago, and I've been meaning to show you. It is both hilarious and useful in equal measures, and includes brilliant captions such as 'Polo neck for a spectator sportsman - as well as the man who swings a golf club or just toes the line for darts. Any man who appreciates ease and comfort and a smart appearance will value a sweater like this'. Unfortunately I am going to have to significantly step up my knitting skills before I can ensnare any sportsmen
with my home-knit sweaters.

New vintage stuff in the shop. The blue loafers are just incredible, and make me empathise with the ugly stepsisters cutting off their toes to fit in the glass slipper. I've contemplated it.

Look at these beautiful great big buttons!

Now that I've got your attention, I've just realised that I've been selling on etsy for a year and a day now, so in celebration of a darn good year FREE GIFTS will come with all purchases made tomorrow (Wednesday 9th). Go on, treat yourself!

A lovely afternoon at the beach, in which I ate chips twice. Perfect.

Saturday, 5 June 2010

I've been experimenting with some geometric shapes, sparked by some illustrations I did for a book project of mine. I like the necklaces, still not sure about the rings but we'll see how they go. I think I'll take them to my next craft fair rather than put them in the shop, but if you fancy anything you see here drop me a line!

A little tutorial I did to make an easy bow is now up on the All Things Original blog. There's also a sneaky peek at my workspace, which I can assure you is a hundred times less tidy this morning! Anyway, pop on over and get your bow on...

I knocked these puppies up yesterday using these drawings I did the other day. I'm really rather pleased with them, and might turn it into a whole collection. There's one in the shop now. What do you think?
