As the clouds parted this evening we took the opportunity to dash outside and some friends took me to this rather nice lake which I didn't know about, which we walked around as the sun faded and squealed 'look! babies!' at everything. Thanks, team! And thanks, baby poultry, for posing so nicely.

The Lazy Domestic Goddess

Seeing as it's blowing a gale and raining outside, I've been using my new-found and short-lived leisure to make cakes and restock the shop, which is lush! These are just plain old vanilla buns with a spoonful of plum jam inside.

My never-fail very lazy cake recipe (which surprisingly was learnt from the boy, who is no kitchen king) is this: take two eggs, and weigh them. Weigh out the same weight of self-raising flour, sugar and butter. Swizz them together with a blender and Bob's your Uncle. Well, cook them for a bit as well. What are you doing with your Sunday?

Isn't this a beauty? It's just big enough for phone, keys and money at a push but it makes my eyes do a happy dance everytime they see it. Found it in an awesome but overpriced junk shop in town.

Also, I'm pleased to announce that the shop is now open again. I have, apart from the show, finished my degree as of yesterday. Not sure how to feel about it yet, we'll see!

It's absolutely sweltering outside! And I have been in here, grappling with photoshop and the internet, to get my portfolio site together. It's very basic and I've just used blogger (Flash just aint my bag yet baby) and I reckon it'll do for now. Any feedback welcome!

Also, enjoy your sunny afternoon x

This is the only bit of my house that isn't currently inches deep in paper, cans of spraymount, bits of double-sided tape backing and half cups of tea. Working hard is all well and good, but when the smells of other people's delicious barbecues come drifting in through the window, with happy laughter and sunny sun sun, it's a different struggle all together!

oooh, lovely!

A nice surprise yesterday when Alessandra pointed out that my bow necklace is on this page of papier mache magazine, as is her lovely cloud pillow. This cheered me up no end, as papier mache is just amazing and looks exactly how my ideal online magazine should, never mind that it's about kids. Lucky kids!

Needing a hair comb to photograph for a project, I popped into the lovely little jewellery shop in town and, finding myself sans £1.50, just HAD to buy these earrings so that I could use my card (sigh!). Now, even though I must work work work like a hermit in my house and not have any fun or go outside, at least my earlobes will look fabulous. Lovely jubbly!

The other purpose of the earrings is to console me for getting a scalpel blade in my foot this morning, which was not cool. Health and Safety fail.

Some old, old photos of the Norfolk coast that I took in my first winter here. I like the faded, bleak crappiness of the English seaside town in winter, everything packed up and waiting for those few sunny weekends in August.

Thanks for your comments, things are hopefully ok now!
